## Description

This operation extracts all the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses from a block of text or data.

***

## Data types

These are the input/output expected data types for this operation:

### Input data

`String` - Strings with a block of IP addresses you want to extract.

### Output data

`String` - List of IP addresses.

***

## Example

Suppose you want to **extract a list of IP addresses** from your input strings. To do it:

1. In your Pipeline, open the required [Action](/pipelines/actions.md) configuration and select the input **Field**.
2. In the **Operation** field, choose **Extract IP Address**.
3. Give your **Output field** a name and click **Save**.

For example, in this input text:

<pre><code><strong>"User logged in from 192.168.1.1. Another login detected from 10.0.0.5"
</strong></code></pre>

this will be the output list of IP addresses detected:

```
"192.168.1.1,10.0.0.5"
```

You can try out operations with specific values using the **Input** field above the operation. You can enter the value in the example above and check the result in the **Output** field.
{% endhint %}
