To Decimal

Description

This operation converts a text string into its ordinal integer decimal representation. Each character in the input string is transformed into its corresponding ASCII or Unicode decimal value. The resulting decimal values are joined using a configurable delimiter. This operation is useful for encoding text into decimal format for applications such as data transmission, cryptography, or educational purposes.

If a delimiter is provided, the decimal values will be separated by it. If no delimiter is specified, the values will be concatenated without separating.

Data types

These are the input/output expected data types for this operation:

Input data

- Plain text to be converted.

Output data

- Resulting string of decimal values.

Parameters

These are the parameters you need to configure to use this operation (mandatory parameters are marked with a *):

Delimiter*

Specify the delimiter you want to use to separate the decimal values in the output strings. Choose between:

  • Space

  • Comma

  • Semi-colon

  • Colon

  • None

Support signed values*

Whether to interpret values using two's complement (e.g., extended ASCII). If enabled, negative values may appear for certain characters. The default value is false.

Example

Suppose you want to transform a series of plain texts into their corresponding binary strings:

  1. In your Pipeline, open the required Action configuration and select the input Field.

  2. In the Operation field, choose To Decimal.

  3. Set Delimiter to Comma.

  4. Set Support signed values to false.

  5. Give your Output field a name and click Save. The values in your input field will be transformed. For example:

Hello -> 72,101,108,108,111

You can try out operations with specific values using the Input field above the operation. You can enter the value in the example above and check the result in the Output field.
